I never get tired of reading.

Michele, I’m conflicted about some of the characters in the LKH series. I often find myself empathizing with Richard more than Anita. I guess that’s because I think I’d react the same way he does to the things he’s forced to do. Anita wants him to react the way she does, but how many of us could do that? Not me. I’ll never be accused of being a kick-butt heroine. That said, I really enjoy the series. LKH has gotten me to invest emotion in her characters. Therefore I get mad at Anita or sympathize with Asher. I care about what happens to them. And that’s the highest praise I can give an author.

Woohoo! I bought Janet Evanovich’s Eleven on Top at Barnes & Noble today. I’ll need a complete change of pace after LKH’s series.

Kitty report. I’d be an obsessive pet owner. The kitten didn’t seem to feel well last night. It slept straight through from late afternoon till the next morning. No eating, no pooping, no playing. I was so worried that I kept waking up every few hours to make sure it was still alive. At three in the morning I was looking in the Yellow Pages to see where the nearest vet was just in case I needed to take the kitten in. Of course, the kitten was back to normal today. Can we say neurotic?

Steven Wright quote: A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

  1. :)Happy Friday! Just came back from picking 10lbs. of strawberries, yum.
Thanks for being willing to chat about LKH’s books here. I really enjoy that. Quick mention - Asher is going to be in the "spotlight" in the near future, and I’m looking forward to his story. I agree, I care about his character too, he’s been through so much! I hope somehow he finds a modicum of happiness when it is his turn..not that happiness is a strong by-line in this series….
If you really want a change of pace after reading that wonderful book you picked up, try The Corset Diaries by Katie MacAlister. I almost busted a gut reading the first chapter. A few highlights, what happens when a modern woman who just ate beans on toast is put into a corset? Or what happens when someone has a liquid lunch and meets their TV show partner-to-be? :hehe:
I read that one in a day, couldn’t stop laughing and reading.

I think you’d be a great kitty owner!!! Your story just brings on the warm and fuzzies. AND, it sounded like it came right out of the pages of some of the romance novels I’ve read in the past. It works because, it has now become obvious to me, it really can happen that way. Love for your new animal friend sneaks up on you and then you can’t imagine your life without them. That is so sweet. Are you going to keep the cutie after all????
And no, you are NOT neurotic - you’re a good kitty Mommy. A natural as the case may be.

    I like the quote - I resemble it :D
    Have an awesome weekend!
